For a night, we are all a village.

Saturday, 24 August 2024. 7pm-12am. Mountain Coffee. 2 Geylang Lorong 29, Yinchuan Building, Singapore 388058

S-24 builds on The Artists Village (TAV) S-23 (2023). This is a project inspired by the S-11 coffee shop near the old central library and the Substation, a popular hangout spot for the arts community.

Significant spaces for the arts extend beyond galleries and museums to include informal, accessible venues like coffee shops such as S-11. These places offer the community a chance to connect and share. It’s common to hear, “Let’s head to the coffee shop!” at the end of art gatherings, where the most engaging stories and exchanges occur.

“Ethnocacophony” by Sound Artist Singlish Punk (SGPK, Kai Lam)

In collaboration with National Gallery Singapore, S-24 utilises the coffee shop as a site and method to explore non-dominant and diverse perspectives in Singapore art history. For one night, we invite you to join us at a Geylang rest stop after dusk to experience this creative convergence. You will actively participate in our cultural kopitiam rituals, connect with artists and their friends, and create new art pathways, making us all a community for the night.

TAV created a card game called “Art Bluff”!

Bring your photographs and memories of BBA, Hock Hiap Leong and other coffeeshops in Singapore! This crowdsourcing artwork transforms the conversations that take place around the coffeeshop table into a collective experience of capturing truths about the Singapore art scene.
